In April 1984, Yehudi Menuhin, invited by the Polish Chamber Orchestra, visited Poland to take part in a concert as conductor and soloist.

To accommodate to the repertoire that he would interpret, he increased the number of members of the orchestra up to forty. The concert of 1984 was broadcasted on television and radio and aroused great enthusiasm by all who heard it. Critics showed their admiration at the musical quality of the orchestra and the concert attracted numerous young musicians from all over the country. He had realized the dream of creating a permanent combination of 24 strings and a double horn section.

All this interest awakened because of the new formation of the orchestra made Lord Yehudi Menuhin sign a contract as principal guest conductor of the Symphony Orchestra of Warsaw.
