In order to promote and encourage the creativity of young people in Alicante in the area of painting, the cultural sector Ambitocultural of Alicante and the Corte Ingles invite to join ¨ArteJoven¨, Alicante´s Young Artists Competition Exhibition.

This contest is open to all novice painters younger than 30 years of age (accomplished in 2011). Participants must also be residents and native of the province of Alicante.

Each of the artists may submit up to two original works with free theme and procedure, but subject to a maximum size of 116 x 89cm and they should also be framed with 2cm wooden lath.

The works may be submitted until December 31st 2011, 20:00 at the department of paintings.

The jury will be composed of personalities from the artistic world and they shall give their criticism at the inauguration exhibition of the works chosen on February 2nd at the Ambito Cultural room at 19:30.

The Golden Age, Israel Galván

This artist has performed at major European scenes and is considered one of the most innovative flamenco style artists. The show is called "The Golden Age", a very significant title, the brothers Alfredo Lago (guitar) and David (song) will accompany Israel Galván on this performance.

13th edition of ¨Lo Mejor de la Gastronomía¨ Conference

A new edition of ¨Lo Mejor de la Gastronomía¨, the best of gastronomy event is being held at the Alicante Trade Fair Institution. Although this event was traditionally held in the city of San Sebastián, in the Basque Country, this year it is Alicante´s turn. The conference is held from November 12th till 15th.

The best chefs in the world again to meet in a contest that will include lectures, workshops for professionals and the traditional City of Gastronomy. The event will be complemented by two fortnights dedicated to tapas, cured meats and wines from Alicante and a Congress focused on salting.

The conference has grown significantly in terms of exhibition space as well as number of activities that are offered. Apart from the activities featuring famous cooks at this gourmet event, there is much more to do in the streets of Alicante: there is a Gourmet Week, in which the bars and restaurants serve menus at special prices; further there are competitions in which anyone who likes to join can compete for the best fried eggs, paella, aioli or tortilla.

At the same time, a comprehensive activity programme inside the Trade Fair Institution will be featuring great chefs like Rene Redzepi, Marc Veyrat, Dani García, Pedro Subijana, Ferrán Adrià , Joël Robuchon, Massimo Bottura, Raúl Alexandre, Ricard Camarena, Manolo de la Osa, Quique Dacosta, Grant Achatz, Martín Berasategui Thomas Keller,Joan Roca, Paco Torreblanca, Pepe Rodríguez, , Francis Paniego, Mari Carmen Vélez and more important chefs.

Alicante Sun Festival 2011

The Alicante Sun Festival is an electronic music and house music event, which will be held from July 14th and 16th at Pier 14 in Alicante.

This year is the organisation expects some 6.000 visitors during the three day event. The first day DJ Fonsi Nieto will play, the next day will be DJ Wally Lopez´s turn, with a party that will last until dawn.

The Mayor of Alicante, Sonia Castedo, announced that the Festival is considered one of the most important festivals of electronic music in Alicante and throughout Spain.

This year the festival has been denominated Alicante Sun Festival The Week, which will take place during several days in various pubs, terraces and clubs in Alicante.

The Sun Festival Alicante The Week is the improved version of the Alicante Sun Festival, which had been organized in this city for already 3 years. It features 48 different DJs and music artists on the level of Wally Lopez, Carlos Jean, Fonsi Nieto, Gonzalo Menoyo, Dj Nano, Jp Candela, Robert Gaez, Sergio Gallegos, Villa Gombao INC. .. The Festival is divided into several stages: the Motorcycle Festival, Fiesta White Fashion Vip and ending with the great Festival on Saturday the 16th.

Without doubt the most intense and important festival of electronic music and house, an event that combines light, sun, sand, sea, lights, music and fun, of course with the hands of the 48 DJs who will make this festival unforgettable.

The tour will begin on Wednesday July 13th, with the "pub tour", Theatre Day & Night, Desafinado and John Mulligan's & Co. Spirit Store. On Thursday July 14th there is the "Motorcycle" party Z-Klub, Byblos and Coll 37, with three special guests, DJ Nano, Fonsi Nieto and JP Candela. The Festival will start at 12:00 in Pier 14 of the Volvo Ocean Race and will last until early in the morning.

This year in conjunction with the festival, there is the Alicante Sun Conference, with more than 25 activities, including lectures, forums, lectures and master classes led by Dario Nunez, Luis Boni Ruben Bonel, Dj Nano, Jonathan Delgado.
