Fair and Fiestas del Rosario 2011 en Fuengirola

AurigaCrown Car Hire offers their clients ideas on different events and places to visit during their stay in Spain. Providing options for visits that are within easy reach with a rental car, nice routes, places to visit and from where to start. In this article information on what to do in Fuengirola (Malaga) and the annual fair and Fiestas del Rosario celebrations.

Fuengirola's amazing feria is staged in honour of Our Lady, the Virgin of El Rosario, the Patron Saint of Fuengirola and it is the big party of the year for the residents of Fuengirola, and a superb party to attend for all ages. The celebrations are held from October 6th to 12th and feature displays by horses as well as bullfights, flamenco dancing and other popular Spanish cultural activities.

Passion, colour and noise are the first things to assault the senses as you approach the fair. The pride of the local people during this week is wonderful to see – the women showing off their beautiful flamenco dresses as they perch side-saddle behind the elegant horsemen in their red cravattes, sombreros and braces.

The streets of the town, including local bars and restaurants are festooned in flags, banners and bunting to leave the tourists in no doubt that this is fair week. After the initial processions from the main square in the centre of Fuengirola to the fairground, an amazing firework display marks the opening of the city´s largest and most colourful annual event.

On entering the fairground in the evening, there are incredible lights and sounds. Music booms from every stall and ride, combining excitement and great fun for all. There are also casitas, tented structures which are run by private associations, within the feria ground where much live music, flamenco dancing and drinking takes place.

Of course food is being cooked and served as well all round the feria, including such Spanish favourites as pinchitos, gambas, octopus and a lot of candy and sweets. Plenty of places to get beer and wine and to enjoy the festival.

There is no closing hour at this event, moreover many stay all night and subsequently have there coffee with churros for breakfast at one of the local surrounding cafes.

A great moment to really embrace everything Spanish and enjoy the Carnival Atmosphere! Don´t miss this event!

Apart from the city of Fuengirola, there is much more in the neighborhood worth visiting. The cities of Malaga, Torremolinos and Marbella are close by and nice to spend a day. But you can also think of the beautiful natural parks like the Sierra de las Nieves where you can go hiking and find peace and quietness. There is always something to do for all tastes.

Upon arrival you can conveniently rent your car directly at Malaga airport, but there is also an office in the centre of Fuengirola, in case you prefer to rent your car later on. For more information on car rentals, fleet, offices and/or prices, please visit AurigaCrown´s website.

The Moto GP World Championship reaches its grand finale in Valencia. The closing of the season goes accompanied by a vibrant party feeling, with celebrities, sportsmen and fanatical supporters filling the Ricardo Tormo Circuit to watch riders race the track. Even if the championship is already decided, the event is always thrilling, as there are many things on the agenda as racers, teams and manufacturers all try to present themselves for the coming season.

Valencia has a true motorsport tradition, producing many outstanding Grand Prix competitors on both two and four wheels. Just the fact that there are three Grands Prix held each year in Spain demonstrates the country's fanaticism for the sport.

The track offers a balance combination of left and right turns and a straight part. The track was deliberately designed to turn in on itself, leaving very little space in the infield. The situation of the track in a natural amphitheatre, gives a fantastic view from most of the 120.000 grandstand seats.

Apart from the races, Valencia itself is a fascinating city, a blend of architectures from Moorish to Modern, and a vibrant atmosphere: a great place to spend some extra days. The commodity of a rental car will easily get you in and around the city. AurigaCrown Car Hire has an office at Valencia airport, so pick up upon arrival is very easy.
